Our Story

Benue Breast Cancer Support Initiative (BBCSI) grew from conversations among survivors, caregivers and health workers who were tired of silence and harmful myths surrounding breast cancer. Since then, we have run awareness campaigns, screening drives, support groups and a small treatment loan program — all tailored to women living in Benue state.

Read Our Full History

Too often, a diagnosis is hidden for fear of gossip, discrimination, or beliefs that breast cancer is caused by witchcraft or spiritual attacks. We offer education, support, and practical help so that no woman fights alone. Together, we can replace myths with understanding, and secrecy with strength.

Prof. Stevina Evuleocha-Ugbah

Founder's Story

Prof. Stevina Evuleocha-Ugbah founded BBCSI after witnessing the devastating impact of breast cancer on women in Benue State, including the silence and stigma that often surrounds the disease. Her personal journey as a survivor and advocate inspired her to create a safe space for education, support, and hope.

Driven by compassion and a vision for change, Prof. Stevina mobilized health professionals, survivors, and community leaders to challenge myths and provide practical help. Her leadership continues to guide BBCSI's mission to ensure no woman faces breast cancer alone.
